Pool

8-ball and 9-ball on a top-down table. Play the computer, or start a room and send the code to a friend.

How the rules work

Both games

  • Fouls: scratching, hitting no ball, hitting the wrong ball first, or no ball reaching a rail after contact when nothing is pocketed. A foul gives the other player ball in hand anywhere on the table.
  • Each shot has a 60-second clock. Running out is a foul.

8-ball

  • The table is open after the break. The first ball legally pocketed decides who has solids and who has stripes.
  • Pocketing a ball on the break keeps your turn. The 8 on the break goes back on the foot spot and the breaker carries on.
  • Once your group is down, call a pocket and sink the 8 to win. You lose if the 8 goes down early, in the wrong pocket, or with a scratch.

9-ball

  • Hit the lowest-numbered ball first. Pocketing any ball on a legal shot keeps your turn.
  • Legally pocketing the 9 wins at any time, even on the break or a combination. A 9 pocketed on a foul goes back on the foot spot.
